 One of the most unforgettable moments was relaxing in our private pool while watching rhinos just a short distance away. Seeing these incredible animals in their natural surroundings was something we had only dreamed of before. Throughout our stay, we could also spot other wildlife around the property, and watching the horses wander into the sunset created a truly magical atmosphere.

Being surrounded by nature in such a peaceful and secluded place made us feel completely disconnected from everyday life. At the same time, the cottage had everything we needed, so we could enjoy the beauty of the wilderness without giving up any comfort.

A special thank you to the incredibly warm and welcoming staff, who made us feel at home from the very first moment. Their kindness and hospitality truly made our stay even more memorable.

We also highly recommend the stargazing experience. Spending the evening with the astronomer, exploring the night sky through the telescope while learning about the stars and constellations, was fascinating and the perfect way to end a day in the African bush.

It was an experience we will never forget, and we would love to come back one day.

The majestic Waterberg has been complemented by a private, luxury jewel away from the rat race of the city! What an amazing experience. We truly enjoyed the beautiful scenery, well structured tent and amazing ambience. What an amazing place.

Beautiful complex, you arrive and immediately feel a deep sense of peace. Horses, dogs, cats, and all kinds of other animals roam freely, jacarandas and strelitzias bloom, and it's simply dreamy. The Butterfly Cottage is magical and very cozy, and has everything you need for self-catering. All the staff are very warm and friendly. Absolute recommendation! However, you have to be able to cope with creepy-crawlies in the house, even if you can sleep safely under a mosquito net in bed :-)

Where do I begin? The sweeping views with ostriches and antelope by your tent, the perfect african sunset, tents with everything, yummy food, staff who went above and beyond in every way. This was our favourite of 3 africamp sites which we toured over 10 days. The lux bush supper was incredible - I can't recommend it enough and as a family we felt completely spoilt. Dr Phil's stargazing experience was remarkable and with the mattresses, hot water bottles and blankets they had thought of everything. This is really a very special place and we loved every minute of it.

Our recent trip to Waterberg Cottages was nothing short of magical, offering an authentic and incredibly enriching bushveld escape. Even before we reached the gate, the natural wonders began to unfold.

Waterberg Cottages is more than just accommodation; it's an immersive and truly rejuvenating bushveld experience. We left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already planning our return to this unforgettable paradise.

Du premier message avant l’arrivée au dernier pour dire que nous sommes bien rentrés, tout est parfait. On se sent attendus, accueillis comme à la maison et merveilleusement bien dans ce petit coin de paradis.
La réserve est splendide. L’emplacement de la tente superbe, avec une très belle vue environnante. Nous n’avons pas eu la chance d’avoir la plaine avec les zèbres juste devant notre tente mais en profitions en tournant un peu la tête. Un gnou est venu nous saluer malgré tout. Très bon panier braai, extrêmement copieux et complet. Très bien présenté. Le bois mis à disposition (à l’achat) à notre arrivée est un vrai plus. Tout est très bien entretenu. Les activités sont vraiment géniales, entre game drive et soirée étoiles nous nous sommes régalés. Le bain chaud a beaucoup plu à notre petit garçon. Seul bémol, ne pas être resté plus longtemps. Tout est une invitation à profiter de chaque minute en famille. Nous avons adoré et espérons déjà revenir.

We absolutely loved our stay! Sitting on the deck, watching game; lazing in the hot tub and long evening barbecues. Everything you could need can be provided. We did a food shop but ran out of meat so added a barbecue pack on the last night which was fabulous. Everything is put together with love and attention to detail. The stargazing, the game drive, the horseriding; all outstanding experiences. I could go on; but I’d say just go and visit!

Le calme , la vue, le safari à cheval exceptionnel, nous pouvons approcher les animaux de près. Les guides sont très sérieux, mention spéciale à Dan et Fortune. Un endroit où l'on respecte la nature même au niveau des emballages, des petits déjeuners dans du papier et non du plastique, de l'eau de qualité, du lait et du jus dans des bouteilles en verre. Les tarifs, ils sont abordables. Une très belle expérience. Nous y reviendrons en famille cette fois-ci.

One of the most wonderful places to stay in South Africa, especially if you love walking or riding with wildlife. Do not hesitate to make a booking. Waterberg Cottages have something for everyone - singles, couples, families or large groups. You can chose to stay on a self-catering basis, ask them to deliver food or cook for you. It's great value. There are lovely gardens with a heated pool, a tennis court and children's play area, They lay on game drives, birding trips and offer Dr Calcott's amazing night sky safaris. The riding is exceptional. They have horses for every level of rider and guide you through woodland and beautiful open country where you will be able to get close to a great variety of game from rhino and giraffe to eland and sable antelope. We stayed for nearly three weeks in early 2026 and long to return.
