Walking Trails
[Scroll down for link to Google Map of our Walking Trails].
Welcome to the heart of the Waterberg bushveld! Our network of trails offers a chance to explore the natural beauty right on your doorstep. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a bird watcher, or just looking for a peaceful walk, our marked trails cater to all fitness levels and interests.
All of the walking trails traverse the game area and so wild animals may be encountered en route. For this reason, we ask that all children be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Because there are buffalo on the property, certain trails may be closed to walking at certain times for the safety of our guests. Please confirm your route with reception before setting out.
Key Features:
Diverse Scenery: Our trails wind through a variety of landscapes, including rocky outcrops with stunning views, lush riverine areas, and open savanna plains. You'll encounter a rich tapestry of flora and fauna unique to the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve.
Self-Guided Exploration: All our trails are well-marked and easy to follow. We provide a map at reception, detailing the routes, distances, and points of interest. You can also link to our google trails map which will help you to track your location as you walk.
Wildlife Encounters: Keep an eye out for a variety of plains game like kudu, zebra, and impala. The area is also home to a fantastic array of birdlife, so be sure to bring your binoculars!

Essential Tips for Your Walk
- Start early: We recommend starting your hike in the cooler morning hours to avoid the midday heat.
- Stay hydrated: Always carry enough water, especially on the longer trails.
- Sun protection: Wear a hat and use sunscreen.
- Appropriate footwear: Closed, comfortable shoes are a must.
- Be prepared: Take a fully charged phone for emergencies.
- Safety first: Always let reception know which trail you're heading out on and when you expect to return.
- Respect nature: Please do not litter. Help us keep our environment pristine for everyone to enjoy.
- Always take care to watch where you put your feet. Snakes will avoid humans, but they may be sluggish and unaware of your approach if cold.
(If you encounter a snake, quietly retreat. The snake will be eager to escape but will be dangerous if threatened.) - Never put your fingers under a rock or reach into a hole.
