LAPALALA WILDERNESS

Lapalala is one of the true jewels of the Waterberg. It extends over 35 000 hectares of some of the most beautiful terrain in South Africa, with stunning views, fabulous historic sites, and lots of game. Running through the middle of Lapalala is the Palala River, internationally famous for its pristine state. The rivers cuts a dramatic gorge offering stunning view points from its top, and bushman rock art hidden under overhangs cut into it’s plunging sides.

For over 30 years this amazing wilderness has been at the forefront of conservation, rhino conservation in particular. It is now home to over 50 rhino, both black and white. However, perhaps the most special aspect of this area is its emptiness. Lapalala has never been developed, and due to land claims over some of it, Lapalala does not it general accept guests. However, the management have kindly allowed us to take our guests for day safaris over this vast and special area.

On our day long exclusive safari on Lapalala you can expect to explore Lapalala’s rock art, enjoy close encounters with many game species, particularly rhino, experience breath-taking views, beautiful veld, and even see one of the southern-most Baobab trees in Africa. Along the way we will offer you drinks at awesome viewpoints, provide a picnic lunch by the Palala, and our expert guides will help you explore and understand the rich diversity of life you will encounter along the way.

The cost for our day safari is R600 per adult and R400 per child.
